Regular City Council meetings now start at 6:00 p.m.

Sewer

The Willits Water Quality Control Plant maintains a gravity sewer collection system of over 20 lineal miles. The present secondary aeration plant was built in 1975 and produces consistently high quality effluent, which is discharged to Outlet Creek during wet weather and irrigated to pastureland during the dry season.

The service area for the plant is within the city limits, with special agreements with Brooktrails Community Services District, Meadowbrook Sanitation District, and the Sherwood Band for Sanitary Services.

The future for the system includes a new passive plant featuring treatment by facultative ponding and a system of treatment and enhancement wetlands and disinfection by ultra-violet light. There will also be public access trails and nature interpretive vistas of the Little Lake Valley within the wetlands. Scheduled start-up for the plant is 2006.
