Regarding West Commercial Street Project

Willits City Council Chambers
Willits City Hall
111 East Commercial Street, Willits, CA 95490
Approximately six months ago, the City of Willits completed the West Commercial Street
Project. The Project design included a number of new “complete street” design features,
such as pedestrian and bicycle friendly facilities, traffic calming and planter boxes. The
West Commercial Street design was selected in order to see how a “complete street”
design works in Willits.
The City of Willits Traffic Safety Committee is interested in feedback from citizens and
businesses regarding the West Commercial Street Project. The City has received a
wide range of informal public input; therefore, a public meeting is being conducted so
that comments may be formally considered in a forum that gives all interested parties an
opportunity to participate. The feedback gathered by the Committee will be used to
guide recommendations to the Willits City Council. The Traffic Safety Committee is
made up City staff, and includes the City Manager, Planning and Community
Development Director, Police Chief, and City Clerk/Risk Manager. The specific issues
identified by the Traffic Safety Committee for which public input is being sought are:
1)Number and location of street planters;
2) Right-turning movement at the southwest
corner of Commercial and Main Streets;
3) Outdoor dining on sidewalk and street; and
4) On-going maintenance of street planters. The Committee also welcomes public input
regarding other West Commercial Street design issues.
Attending the forum is not required to provide feedback. Written comments may be
submitted on or before the meeting at 111 East Commercial Street Willits, CA 95490.
Interested persons with questions or wanting more information about the community
forum may contact Alan Falleri at (707) 459-7124.
