Cultural Arts Commission

The Cultural Arts Commission consists of seven members who reside in the surrounding Willits area and serve a four-year term. These commission members are dedicated to the promotion and advancement of cultural and artistic activities. The Commission meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. during daylight savings time in the Willits Center for Arts.

The Cultural Arts Commission is an advisory agency to the City Council and has the following purposes and functions:

  • To coordinate artistic and cultural events sponsored by organizations within the Willits community, and to develop cooperation among such organizations in the timing and planning of their events.
  • To encourage, assist in, and develop programs and events for the cultural and artistic enrichment of the community.
  • To encourage and develop an appreciation of the need to preserve and enhance the physical appearance of the city and to promote its orderly growth.
  • To advise the City Council in matters pertaining to the beautification and cultural enrichment of the city.

The major goal of the Commission has been the renovation of the Willits Center of the Arts.
